UNFLATTERING PHOTOS ARE KICK START FOR HALF OF FEMALE DIETERS
Half of all women on diets started their slimming regime after seeing themselves in an unattractive picture, reveals a new survey.
And with the popularity of social networking sites such as Facebook, we’re seeing a lot more of ourselves causing some women to be more self-conscious of their appearance.
‘A photograph can be like a bolt from the blue,’ says a spokesman for Eat Water. ‘Often people are absolutely flabbergasted.’
A bad snap can motivate women to lose around 14 pounds, which is the same average weight loss of those who diet after being dumped.
Even old pictures can bring to light current weight issues as 42 per cent of girls admit to dieting after looking at photo’s of their former, trimmer selves.
Over the last five years, a third of girls have slimmed down to attend a wedding and 17 per cent have done the same for their own big day.
