Healthy recipes perfect for the New Year

Healthy recipes perfect for the New Year

After a week (okay, more like a month) of Christmas indulgence, we take a look at how you can make a change for the better in 2018. The most effective and underrated tip we can offer is to start slow. When January 1st comes around, don’t join an expensive gym and throw away your selection boxes. While those things are useful, you may end up being out of pocket and out of a well-deserved treat! Create small and achievable aims for your health, starting with cooking one of these recipes.

Bursting Berry and Spinach Smoothie

A smoothie is a sure-fire way to get some goodness in just a flash. Throw a handful of your fav berries into a blender with two handfuls of spinach (trust us, it won’t taste of spinach!). If you’re looking to bulk it out a bit, perhaps for a breakfast, then add a packet of our No Drain Slim Noodles. It might sound a little odd but trust us. The noodles will blend without adding an additional taste, plus it will help you feel fuller for longer.

Spicy Chicken Buritto

Chicken is low in fat and if seasoned well, high in flavour. Stir-fry chicken with chilli powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Throw in veggies and black beans. Then, drain and cook your Slim Rice (also low in fat!). Wrap everything up in a tortilla wrap and Bob’s your uncle. Add cheeses, lettuce, and salsa if you’re extra peckish. new year recipes

Tofu and Cashew Stir-Fry

Tofu can be a wonderful alternative to meat and by adding a cashew can provide a crunchy kick to the tofu’s soft texture. The great thing about stir-frys is you can use whatever veggies you’ve got. The only ones we recommend are spring onions and pak choy. Beyond that, get creative with it! Remove all the excess liquid from your tofu, crush you cashew, and throw all your veggies in for a super supper.

Mushroom and Tuna Fettuccini

Tuna is a lean-fish packed with protein. It can satisfy your hunger pangs whilst keeping calories at a low. To make this filling dinner first brown a chopped onion, then add tune, chopped mushrooms, and a tomato paste and cook until the mushrooms are soft. Prepare the Slim Pasta Fettucini as per package instructions (drained and rinsed). Voilà! A quick and hearty dish brilliant for those cold January evenings.
