Our favourite reality cookery shows.
Our favourite reality cookery shows. One simply has to switch on the TV and voila! A gazillion cooking shows seem to bombard you from every pixel of the screen. So, we’ve waded through the ocean of such shows to handpick the ones you simply shouldn’t miss. Disclaimer: Refrain from watching these if you are hungry and have no access to food nearby. MasterChef Australia: The rockstar of the genre, the show has converted even the most hardcore football fanboys into connoisseurs of food. Currently in its 9th season, the show features contestants battling it out for the coveted MasterChef title by impressing the 3 judges Gary Mehigan, chef George Calombaris and food critic Matt Preston. Hell’s Kitchen: Cooking a decent meal is a task unto itself. Imagine preparing a five course meal with the devil breathing down your back. Featuring the iconic Gordon Ramsey’s spine tingling lexicon, it’s TV entertainment at its best. Couples Come Dine With Me: An often overlooked show across the world, CCDWM features one of the best/funniest voiceover narrations in any TV show. Spearheaded by the man with many personalities Adam Lamb, the show features each of the 3 couples preparing dinner in their respective homes while the others rate their food. Adam breezes through with his punny one-liners as couples wake, bake and skate their way through their courses. Bonus: Cook Up A Storm: Sadly our bonus isn’t another TV show, but infact a Korean movie about cooking. The movie features a Michellin rated Chef pit against a streetfood chef for the ultimate prize. The movie takes you through the nuances of plating, cutting fish, cooking hacks and much more. This one’s not to be missed!
